The organizing team for Abraji's 20th Congress received a record number of suggestions from the public for the event's schedule. There were 485 suggestions, out of which 430 were in Portuguese, five in Spanish and four in English, as well as 46 proposals from Abraji's board and staff.
This month sees the first selection phase, carried out by the curatorial team in partnership with Abraji's board of directors and the thematic working groups of external participants. To reach the around 100 activities that will make up the four days of the Congress, the team holds at least three rounds of debates, choosing, assembling and adapting suggestions submitted externally and internally.
The teams especially prioritize proposals that promote diversity and inclusion, considering aspects of ethnicity, race, gender, region, socio-economics and accessibility for people with disabilities in journalism.
Once the selection stages have been completed, the selected speakers, moderators and instructors will be contacted - and, in some cases, the people who submitted the suggestions may also be contacted. Submitting a proposal does not guarantee featuring in the schedule, but all contributions are carefully reviewed by the organizing team.
The Congress will be held from July 10th to 13th, 2025, at ESPM-SP's Álvaro Alvim campus, in Vila Mariana, São Paulo. Data Sunday is the final day of the event. More information about the schedule, registration and content will be published soon on Abraji's communication channels.
