Associação Brasileira de Jornalismo Investigativo (Abraji), along with Transparency International - Brazil, announced on Tuesday (28) the names of the six journalists working in the Legal Amazon who have been selected for a fellowship to attend the 19th International Congress of Investigative Journalism in São Paulo. The event will take place from July 11 to 14. Registration is now open.

All six of them will receive support from Abraji and TI Brasil covering airfare to São Paulo, accommodation, meal allowance and tickets to the Congress. The initiative is funded by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and is part of the Environmental Defenders project's activities. A total of 81 people from the Legal Amazon had applied.
Those selected will have access to speeches, round tables, courses and workshops at the 19th edition of the event, including the 6th Data Sunday and the 11th Investigative Journalism Research Seminar. For the second year running, the Congress will be taking place at the Álvaro Alvim campus of the Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing (ESPM) in Vila Mariana.
The team in charge of the selection will contact those who have been chosen by email, to confirm their interest in taking part in the event, as well as to specify the dates and times of their roundtrips.
19th International Congress of Investigative Journalism
Considered one of the most important journalism events in Latin America and the largest gathering of journalists in the country, the 19th International Congress of Investigative Journalism has both an in-person and online schedule.
There will be around 100 activities on a wide range of topics, organized in different sections. The Amazon is one of the topics that are going to be widely discussed.
This year, journalist Fabiana Moraes is the event's honoree. Born in Alto José Bonifácio in Recife, Pernambuco, Fabiana is an outstanding example of a dedicated professional committed to journalistic methods. The ceremony will take place on the first day of the 19th Congress, on Thursday, July 11, at 4:30pm. It will be livestreamed online.
